The next regular Board of Education meeting will be on September 14, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., at the District Office. All meetings are open to the public. Regular meetings are streamed live through YouTube and viewable on the District website. Special meetings, where there are action items on the agenda, will also be streamed live. There is a Special Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. at the District Office. This meeting is for the Board to vote on the 2026-27 budget. This meeting is open to the public and will be streamed live through the District YouTube channel.

Dr. Plas will present the 2026-27 budget projections and the proposed levy to the Board of Education at Monday’s Budget Hearing. Bennington is proposing to decrease the levy by 1.3 cents to $1.345, which is the lowest the levy has been in 16 years! 

Residents will be receiving a green postcard in the mail from Douglas County in the next day or two for the Joint Public Budget Hearing. BPS wants to provide families with a reminder regarding the Bennington Grading Framework to help you better understand your students' grade composition and academic performance. There are five central purposes for grading and reporting grades in the Bennington Public Schools:

To accurately communicate student progress and attainment of academic standards, greater emphasis is placed on student performance on formative and summative assessments, with less emphasis on daily practice opportunities that support the development of understanding and skill attainment.

In grades 6–8, the overall grade composition is 60% summative assessments and 40% formative assessments. Required practice and homework are not included in the overall grade.

At the high school level, departments will determine the percentages and categories for summative and formative assessments, provided they do not exceed the grading composition outlined below. All teachers within a department must use the same grading composition and categories to ensure consistency.
